    Key highlights:

    • Strategy purchased 267 Bitcoin for $22.1 million, bringing its total holdings to 848,517 BTC
    • The company increased its preferred-stock repurchase authorization to $3 billion, aiming to manage financing costs and support its preferred securities
    • Strategy faces potential MSCI index exclusion in November as investors monitor its Bitcoin accumulation strategy and upcoming third-quarter earnings

Strategy (MSTR) has purchased 267 Bitcoin for $22.1 million, extending its accumulation streak despite recent market volatility. Meanwhile, Strategy increased its preferred-stock repurchase authorization to $3 billion, a move tipped to improve investor confidence.

Strategy funds Bitcoin purchases through stock sales

The company disclosed the purchases on October 19, covering the week ended October 18. According to the announcement, Strategy acquired the haul at an average price of $82,900 per coin, bringing its total holdings to 848,517 BTC.

Strategy funded the latest acquisition primarily through its at-the-market equity offering. The company sold 140,872 shares of its Class A common stock, raising approximately $22 million in net proceeds, and used another $100,000 from its USD cash balance to complete the purchase.

The latest purchase extends Strategy’s Bitcoin buying streak to five consecutive weeks. Its holdings now represent more than 4% of Bitcoin’s maximum supply of 21 million coins, cementing it as the largest corporate BTC holder.

Alongside its Bitcoin purchase, Strategy’s board increased the authorized aggregate purchase price under its digital credit securities repurchase program from $2 billion to $3 billion.

The company also repurchased 1,938,780 shares of its STRC preferred stock for approximately $193.1 million during the week. Following the authorization increase, approximately $1.16 billion remained available under the repurchase program as of October 18.

Last week, Strategy bought 250 BTC, spending $21 million on the purchase while repurchasing $192.4 million in preferred shares.

The move underscores Strategy’s effort to manage its capital structure while continuing to accumulate Bitcoin. The repurchase program gives the company additional capacity to buy back its preferred securities, while its equity issuance program provides a mechanism for financing further Bitcoin purchases.

What Strategy’s latest move means for MSTR stock

Strategy’s latest purchase reinforces its commitment to Bitcoin accumulation, but the financing approach has implications for shareholders. Issuing additional common shares can dilute existing ownership, while the company’s Bitcoin holdings expose its balance sheet and stock valuation to cryptocurrency price movements.

Investors are also monitoring potential changes to stock-index eligibility. CoinCodex reported that Strategy faces possible removal from MSCI global equity indexes under new rules affecting digital-asset treasury companies. MSCI is expected to publish its final list of affected companies on November 11.

Strategy’s next major catalyst is its third-quarter 2026 earnings report, scheduled for October 29. Investors will be watching for updates on Bitcoin accumulation, capital-raising plans, and the company’s broader treasury strategy.
